We are hoping to get Bob to the vets for another weigh-in really soon. But we think he is looking good and he seems to have more energy.

It’s not too late if you would like to sponsor Bob in his efforts to get down to a healthy weight.

When they heard that this weeks You Capture was faces they begged to be allowed to join in!

Bob popped into the vets office for a weigh-in last week and we are very happy to report he was 111 lbs. That’s 7 lbs lost already and that was last week! He is still looking for sponsors for his Bob’s Biggest Loser challenge if you would like to support him.

It’s Babybel’s turn at the vets today, she is having her operation so as she doesn’t ever have to have puppies again. She can just concentrate on being a puppy herself!

Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World

Recently, I’ve taken up listening to books on tape. My most recent book on tape was a book I’ve been meaning to read “Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World“. This true story is about a rescue kitten who was dropped in a library drop box – this poor kitten suffered from malnutrician and frost bite on his paws but has such a resilient spirit that captures the hearts of an entire town. It’s a wonderful story about how this amazing ginger cat changed people’s lives, the strength of community and the importance of libraries.

I have not made it all the way to the end but I would already recommend this book, or book on tape, to anyone who loves animals and a true feel good story.

Bob’s Biggest Loser Challenge

My name is Bob, I am a chocolate Labrador.

I was abandoned to a shelter where I was slated for euthanasia. I have hair loss where a choke chain used to live, sores on my feet, and ear infections in both ears. But worst of all I am 118 lbs. A good weight for a male Labrador is 60-75 lbs. Fortunately I have met some great folks who got me out of that shelter and are giving me a second chance.

I would like to help them help me, by raising money to help cover my vet bills, so I am doing a biggest loser challenge and looking for people to sponsor me. Will you help?

We will be counting the weight loss from my first vet visit on 19th January when I weighed in at 118 lbs until the grand finale on St Patricks Day – 17 th March.

I will be weighing in regularly at the vet’s office and will come on here and post about my progress. I really hope you will support me.

Thanks, Bob.

We love Bullies in Need the group but we really don’t have the best set up for fostering bullies so Tanya finds us other dogs that are in desperate need – like Bob the chocolate Lab.

He has hair loss where a choke chain used to live, sores on his feet, ear infections in both ears. He is 118lbs! (A good weight for a male lab is 60-75lbs). He was slated for euthenasia.

He is probably about 5-6 years old, and for all the weight he is carrying is still remarkably mobile. He likes to walk and is great on the leash. He likes to play and to roll around in the snow.

He is a really great boy. We are looking at planning a Bob’s biggest loser weight loss challenge so stay tuned.

Introducing our first foster for ARPH, Blue Ribbon’s “Babybel”, she’s named in honour of the murdered Ottawa Police Officer Eric Czapnik.

She had been part of a seizure of half a dozen dogs from a backyard breeder where they were being kept in appalling conditions. Even with all she has been through, she is a really sweet affectionate girl, who just wants to be close.
